Fall Maintenance Calendar

Fall is a perfect time to do a few things to make sure you're taking care of your home. Home maintenance is a must for any homeowner, and there are quite a few tasks to be done, especially in the fall season. Download our check list to make sure your home is in tip top shape.

1. Inspect Your Home's Exterior
Take a walk around your property and keep an eye out for signs of wear and tear or damage. Pay close attention to your roof and chimney and for cracks, as you'll want it in its best shape before winter begins. If you're unsure of what to look for when it comes to your roof, contact The Roof Doctors or Carlos Galan Roofing in the Sacramento area to get free inspections and free estimates on any repair needed.

This time of the year, you'll want to clean your gutters, rake leaves, close your windows, store your outdoor furniture and test your snow blower, if you have one.

2. Check Your Detectors
Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when you set clocks back in the fall. Replace any batteries. This is also a good time to check your fire extinguisher to make sure it's not expired as well as have your furnace professionally inspected.

3. Dust and Vacuum

Because you'll be spending more time in doors, you want to make sure your home is as dust-free as possible. Dust your blind, vacuum your curtains and change the bedding in all bedrooms, including any guest bedrooms for seasonal decor. Hire a professional closet organizer such as Darria Deatherage, who owns Closet Gallery in El Dorado Hills or an interior designer such as Christine Fife to get your home looking its best.
