The Power of Giving: Our Team is Grateful For...

The holidays is one of our favorite times of the year. The weather is crisp, we get to spend quality time with our loved ones, and also exchange gifts. While gift-giving is an expected thing to do every year during this time, we often don’t put much thought into how giving to others actually benefit us, psychologically.

Science proves that there is a lot of good in the act of giving.

  1. Studies show people are happier when they spend money on a gift for others instead of one for themselves.
  2. When you give to others, your brain responds as though you were the one who received the gift! The endorphins you feel can be compared to a runner’s high or chowing down on your favorite food.
  3. Positive feelings associated with giving stick around for about two hours. Not only will you want to give more, but the person who receives your gift is also inspired to give.
  4. When you give to others, research shows you are more likely to reduce your stress levels, improve your mood, and boost your social connections.

In addition to giving, this time of the year also gets us in the mindset of being grateful while we spend time with our loved ones. Here are some of the things our team is grateful for.

1. Quality Time With Family

“I am grateful for getting to spend more quality time with my hubby and kiddos and not rushing around so much. I am also grateful for the love and support of my family, friends and team, I couldn't do life with out you all!”

-Elsa Bibb, Executive Assistant

2. A Supportive Team & Great Clients

“I’m grateful for my family and friends, but most of all our team and clients.  Without this team I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. Our team is supportive, encouraging, humble and ROCKSTARS who strive to be the best they can be daily with each other and to our clients.  This year has been one of transition and change within the company but as we all remain fluid and flexible we will continue to grow and be the best version of us. Thank you for having a GROWTH mindset! I’m truly grateful for each one of you.” -Sherri Patterson, REALTOR

3. Relationships With My Family, Friends & Clients

“In these times,” which seems to be a common phrase today, I am thankful for what has not changed in my life, namely, my relationship with my wife and children, with my friends and family, and even with my colleagues.  Relationships built on love, respect, and integrity, are what I am thankful for.  - Fran Cammarota, REALTOR

4. Motherhood & Close Relationships

“Despite the craziness of 2020, I am grateful that my dream came true this year in becoming a mom. Having been blessed with a daughter and in memory of one of my heroes RBG, I feel so inspired to work with strong and independent women in all aspects of my career from clients to colleagues. I am grateful for the health of everyone I love. Last but not least, I am grateful for my relationships with my incredible husband, my amazing family and close friends.” -Anisha Liebert, REALTOR

5. Everyone in One, Big House

“I’m grateful for my family and having been able to accomplish our family tradition of joining households with my parents at a property where we can raise Eden on a few acres with her grandparents close at hand. I’m grateful for the support of our awesome team, and the trust of our fabulous clients. It is truly a blessing to get to do what I love for work, and help our clients find home.”

-Alyssa Teyler, REALTOR

6. Family & New Job

“My family is the biggest blessing and extra time spent with them has been invaluable! Without all of the normal “distractions” of a busy sports-loving family, we enjoyed time cooking, playing silly games around the house and working on projects together. I was so fortunate to find a new job in the midst of everything and am now loving my new position with everyone here at The Sherri Patterson Team.”

-Mary Hillyer, Marketing Coordinator
